| Reno, Nevada is the second largest
gambling town in Nevada and although it has lost its luster in the last few years with
furious competition from its bigger brother Las Vegas and new casinos sprouting around
Northern California, its still a great gambling hotspot that comes highly
recommended from many-a-gambler. Reno is a city
located in western Nevada and is about 200 miles east of San Francisco and about 450 miles
north of Las Vegas and while it seems a little out of the way, its still worth the
trip. As visitors drive into the city, they will see the bright lights of the citys
casinos and the sign that describes the city the best, Reno: The Biggest Little City
in the World.
Among many of its notable historical contributions, being
the one to the gambling industry. It was the birth place of the Harrahs empire where
Bill Harrah and his family established the first major casino in the area called
Harrahs Reno Hotel and Casino which is still there today.
Another notable addition is the "Old Blue Eyes"
himself, Frank Sinatra owned the famed Cal Neva Hotel which became a popular hangout for
the Rat Pack, the Kennedy's and even Marilyn Monroe among many other high-profile figures.
Although, Reno has been hit financially, its still a
great place to gamble and just for your information, its also dubbed as Sin
